It is always good to travel for leisure once in a while. For many people, the best way to plan for such travel is through tour agencies. However, not all are affordable and offer services that are tailored to the unique needs of their customers. If you are in search of that adventure experience that you have always dreamed of, you should certainly try Sherpa trekking.

The first step to enjoying a memorable vacation in Nepal is making sure everything is ready before you travel. For starters, you want to ensure your travel documents are ready in line with the schedule set by the tour company. Fortunately, entry visas are always available for foreigners from most nations upon arrival at the airport in Kathmandu.

Mount Everest and the Himalayas are the two most famous attractions in Nepal. There areas bordering the mountains are lined with trekking trails and interesting cultural sites. One notable thing is that trekking does not require one to be perfectly fit. You should be able to traverse the tails comfortably provided you are in fairly good health and follow an exercise regimen.

Even then, you should try to get your body in good shape a few months before traveling. Some good exercises to engage in include swimming, aerobics, walking and running. The goal is to tailor your body to survive the unfamiliar high altitude conditions you will encounter when on tour. Standard treks take between two and five days to complete. On any given day, you may find yourself walking for up to six hours.

If you fail to condition your body in advance, you may get mountain sickness. This is a condition that affects the body when it experiences a rapid change from low to high altitudes. It usually sets in at altitudes that are upwards of 2000m. Its symptoms include headache, irregular breathing, nausea and swelling on the fingers.

In case you suffer this ailment, your guide should have you descend to a lower altitude as fast as possible. One thing you can do to stay safe is to only engage tour firms that choose routes that offer easy acclimatization. The saving grace is that the condition only occurs in rare instances. Nevertheless, report your symptoms to your guide as they come.

You should avoid the mistake of traveling without your essentials. These include drinking water, sunglasses, a raincoat and a camera. They should comfortably fit in a small backpack. Your agency should be able to provide porters to carry all the other heavy stuff you may have. Furthermore, ask about provisions for sleeping bags, mattresses, tents and cooking equipment beforehand. The responsibility for providing climbing equipment should also be shouldered by the agency.

It is important to note that Nepalese authorities do not require visitors to be specially vaccinated. However, it would be prudent to talk about your options with your doctor before traveling. Some of the important vaccinations to consider include malaria, hepatitis A, meningitis, rabies, cholera, tetanus, polio and typhoid vaccines. If getting vaccinated, do so several months in advance as not all vaccines can be administered at once.
